Hiding "So-and-so is now friends with so-and so" from newsfeed clobern80 — Jan 05, 2016 09:18AM PST
Is there any way we can get the ability to hide this? I can hide my own "became friends" posts, but I see all of my friends becoming friends with other people and it is REALLY clogging up my news feed. I don't want to hide my friends, I just don't want to see that someone became friends with 20 people.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. You can turn on or off any of the automatically generated updates that are posted to your News Feed, using our website, or our iPhone, iPad or Android apps.
On the Web, click “My Home” then “Settings,” then “Automatic News Feed Update Settings.”
In our Android, iPad and iPhone apps, in the Menu (or “More” page) tap “Settings” then tap “Sharing & Privacy”, then “News Feed Privacy Settings.”
You can check or uncheck any of the categories to control whether or not these activities generate posts to your News Feed. Be sure to save your changes when you are finished.
Hope this helps! We wish you the best of luck in meeting and maintaining all your fitness goals!

Thank you for the response, but this does not hide my friends information, this only hides my own information. It says:
Automatically update my news feed when:
I become friends with someone
I reply to a topic on the message boards
I create a new topic on the message boards
I create a new blog post
I commented on someone else's news feed update
I wrote on someone else's profile page
I have not logged into MyFitnessPal for an extended period
I have logged in for several days in a row
I have lost weight
I have completed my diary for the day
I perform a cardio exercise
It does not say anything about hiding when OTHER people become friends with OTHER people. I still see:
katiem 8 minutes ago
is now friends with lotusner
Roal16 34 minutes ago
is now friends with Dy1109
punkrockgoth an hour ago
is now friends with msl69
kra21 an hour ago
is now friends with saraingood and KGrad92
And tons of other messages like this in my feed and I don't want to see it. I want to see when my friends post something, lose weight, do an exercise... but not when they become friends with someone.

Thank you for clarifying and apologies that I had misread your original post. No there is not a way to keep those from showing up on your newsfeed, unless your friends choose, in their settings, not to share that information. If you like, you can manually delete these from your newsfeed so you don’t have to see them.
Again, apologies for misreading earlier.
