5 week projection and news feeds not showing badasslilwoman — Jan 07, 2016 08:36AM PST
Ideally we would all be perfect people who never had to have bariatric surgery which makes it so that we eat a lot less than we did before. Fortunately, some of us have had the surgery but because we eat less than a set amount of calories (ostensibly for "normal" people) we get this lovely message when we want to see projections: "Completing your diary with fewer than the minimum calories noted above will not generate a news feed post for that day, or show a five-week weight projection." Well, slap my face. A stupid punishment, this feels like. I still get a benefit from being able to track my nutrition but that message smacks of "shame on you!". Any reason why we can't have that projection and news feed added back? EVERYONE knows that, even IF you are among the anointed who gets to see the projections, that it's still YMMV. I think we all just like seeing it.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us, we apologize for any issue.
We recently made changes to our diary completion feature, in large part, to discourage the abuse of MyFitnessPal by individuals struggling with eating disorders.
If you now fall below the National Institutes of Health recommendations of less than 1000 calories for women and 1200 for men, the 5 week projection will no longer appear, and the News Feed will not show as completed for the day.
We do understand some MyFitnessPal members may be on a lower calorie plan recommended directly by their doctor or nutritionist. We are still looking into better ways to help accommodate these special circumstances.
While we truly regret that these changes may have negatively impacted your experience of using MyFitnessPal, we do hope you’ll understand our first priority is to make MyFitnessPal less appealing to persons who are causing themselves harm. Please know we’re reviewing your feedback and looking at ways to improve your experience at MyFitnessPal, while prioritizing the safety of our most vulnerable users.
We appreciate your understanding in this change and do hope you can continue to find benefit in using our program. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback or we can be of any further assistance.

I think there should be an option on our profiles to have "Bariatric Surgery" as an option. So that we can complete our daily food logs and get reports. I just ran into the same problem with the projections as well.
