Hello Healthy news don't show in iOS app home screen kaluzinski_m — Sep 04, 2016 12:23PM PDT

Hi,
Recently I realised that on my Hope page of the iOS app, I don't see any of the Hello Healthy updates, only the ones related to my activity. This was only found out because I encouraged my girlfriend to start using MyFitnessPal on her iPhone and she gets those somehow. I'm pretty keen to be able to see the updates as I find these tips & tricks on healthy living very useful.
Any idea what stops them from appearing in my app?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hey thanks for posting your question. we’ve recently adde a feature in the app where users may disable the blog from showing in the newsfeed. Would you please check your settings to see if this setting has been switched.

If you are using an iOS or Android app, please start by opening the “More” or “Menu” screen, then scroll down to “Settings”, then “Sharing & Privacy”, then “News Feed Sharing”, scroll down and look to see if there is a check next to “There are new articles from the MyFitnessPal blog.”

Hi again, thanks so much for looking into this. I checked the settings in my iOS app, in relevant section, and I can see all the options being ticked, means active. I tried disabling/re-enabling but no success still. Any other ideas, please?

Thank you for following up with us. When viewing the Home screen of the app, would you please try pulling down to refresh the page to see if it then updates adding the Hello Healthy articles? If you are still not seeing them would it be alright if we logged into your account on one of our test devices, to look into the matter further?

Thanks for following up with us. We are able to reproduce the account in your account on our test device. I am trying to confirm with our international team, if not seeing the blog in the newsfeed is expected for users in your location. Would you please let us know whether you and your girlfriend are in the same general locale? It would also be helpful to know, if possible, whether you both installed the app with the App Store set to the same country? Do you know any other users nearby that are seeing the blog nearby?

Both of us are in the same location but I'm signed into German AppStore whereas my girlfriend - the UK one.

Thanks for following up with the additional info. While it does help us figure out what is going on, it does not help you get the Hello Healthy posts in your newsfeed I’m afraid. Currently the version of the app being offered when installing from the German App Store (or other non-english countries) does not include the Blog tab in the Menu screen or add these posts to the newsfeed. While you could change your country in the app store, please keep in mind that Apple may have time restriction on how often you may change the country and you may not be able to change it back right away. it is also my understanding that in order to update apps installed from another country’s App Store, you would need to have it set to that country again.

Again, sorry for the confusion and inconvenience that this current limitation presents for you. We will certainly see what we can do to add this function for future updates.

HI, Thanks for the findings. If I uninstall the app in German, will I lose anything while uploading the English version or the whole history and settings will be kept?

Thanks for following up with us. No, your entries and settings that have synced with our website, will sync back down to the app, when you log in again with the exact same username and password. You might just take a minute to log onto the site and make sure everything is there before deleting your current app.

Hi again,
I uninstalled the app as agreed and then installed it again from UK apple store, but no difference was made as a result. While uninstalling the app i was asked if I want to keep the backup of my data on the phone which I confirmed.
Could it be that keeping the data backup caused this to fail after UK's app version was installed?

Thanks for following up with us. Sorry to hear that you are still experiencing the issue. It’s definitely possible that the backup may be holding onto some locale info that is screwing things up. If there is nothing else differentiating your girlfriend’s set up reinstalling and letting go of the info would be a good next step for us. If your entries are showing correctly on the website, then they will sync back down to the app when you log back in with the same username and password. The only difference that you would expect is that you might see some of the feature introduction screens/pop ups again. If you give a go, please let know whether it resolved the issue for you.
