Garmin Vivofit jenavive1 — Feb 01, 2017 12:30PM PST

I have a Garmin Vivofit that I wear every day. I just started using My fitness pal. I have synched my fitness tracker to my Fitness Pal. Do I need to manually enter my exercise too in My Fitness Pal or will that double count my calories burned?

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Once your accounts are linked, it’s important that you log your food and exercise only with MyFitnessPal. We will sync your food and exercise diary information to the Garmin site for you. Logging food or exercise yourself on the Garmin website is unnecessary, and may lead to incorrect Net Calorie Goal adjustments

For the best experience with the integration, all manual entry of Food and Exercise should take place exclusively on the MyFitnessPal site.

Garmin during the day, we recommend that you not manually log any exercise to your MyFitnessPal Exercise Diary that the Garmin excels at tracking: this includes walking, jogging, running, climbing stairs or hills, or daily home or office activity. These will be more accurately recorded by the Garmin and will then transfer to MyFitnessPal as part of your Garmin Calorie Adjustment.

We recommend that you manually log to MyFitnessPal any exercise that your Garmin “step-based” system will have trouble detecting accurately, such as rowing, cycling, and of course activities like swimming during which you cannot wear the device.

Regards,
Maximiliano
