My Fitness pal/Apple Watch/Map My Run philroe1965 — May 17, 2018 06:45AM PDT

I would like to be able to choose to different applications to log exercise and for my calories consumed by exercise to be accurately reflected in MFP.

For example, I'd like to monitor the following.

Steps through Apple watch
Indoor run (treadmill) through Apple Watch workout app
Outdoor run through Map My Run
Outdoor walk through Map My Walk/Run

When I've tried this I've had issues. It seems that the calorie adjustment is reducing my remaining calories so that the more I exercise, the less I can eat. What settings do I need to use to get the accuracy I need?

Hi there,

How the integration will work is that you will see a positive adjustment only if you are projected to burn more than your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned, based off the current total Calorie burn from Apple Watch. Your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned are composed of two things: your estimate of calories burned per day MyFitnessPal makes based off your profile information plus any added exercises. If an exercise is added manually or from a partner, the MyFitnessPal Calories Burned increase and the adjustment will modify itself so that calories burned are not double counted.

Details about the calculation of any adjustment can be viewed by clicking the small “i” next to the adjustment in your Exercise Diary (on the full website), or by tapping the adjustment itself in the Exercise Diary of the MyFitnessPal on the apps (you may need to tap the adjustment in the diary and then again on the next page depending on your app version). If you do not see a line that says MFP iOS Calories Burned/Steps Calorie Burned adjustment in the cardiovascular section, then there may be a problem with the sync. However, if you do see this line, then it should be syncing correctly, even if it says 0.

When you log an exercise, your adjustment will modify itself so that your Calorie burn is not double counted. If you do not wish for your adjustment to be able to take Calories away from your goal, log in online and go here to disable the Negative Adjustments option. Be sure to save your changes.
