step calories burned not calculating dallanw — Aug 08, 2018 11:25PM PDT

Did anyone find out when they will fix the step calculating problem. If you add an external nonstep exercise then it doesn't allow step calories burned to be added to day.
ie-open water swimming-500 calories burned. Then until your external device gives you more than that 500 calories, plus your daily allotment, you will not receive any step calorie credits.

I read posts from previous months and now it is happening here too, especially due to extra added exercises

Hi there,

How the integration will work is that you will see a positive adjustment only if you are projected to burn more than your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned, based off the current total Calorie burn from Garmin. Your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned are composed of two things: your estimate of calories burned per day MyFitnessPal makes based off your profile information plus any added exercises. If an exercise is added manually or from a partner, the MyFitnessPal Calories Burned increase and the adjustment will modify itself so that calories burned are not double counted.

Details about the calculation of any adjustment can be viewed by clicking the small “i” next to the adjustment in your Exercise Diary (on the full website), or by tapping the adjustment itself in the Exercise Diary of the MyFitnessPal on the apps (you may need to tap the adjustment in the diary and then again on the next page depending on your app version). If you do not see a line that says Garmin adjustment in the cardiovascular section, then there may be a problem with the sync. However, if you do see this line, then it should be syncing correctly, even if it says 0.

All the best,
Bruce

Yes, I have seen this answer. I know how it works. The problem is if there is another activity added, It doesn't give you the credit for the steps. It is a problem with your algorithm and has been documented as you know since you have responded. I have used my fitnesspal.com for years and its great but not working with device sadly. I am trying a work around by setting my activity level to the lowest, then adding my external activities to myfitnesspal.com then using the calorie calculator on Garmin instead so I can get an accurate reading. Kinda sad you guys can't figure it out but hopefully this is a work around.
