Exceeding max length of 5KB

Fitbit Eauhomme1 — Jun 13, 2019 09:09AM PDT

My Fitbit is linked to MFP to track my steps. However, I wonder if I should also enter my workouts as separate exercise, since when I exercise it's power walking and not the same level of energy expended as with my regular daily steps around home and work. The total number of steps is there daily but not all steps are created equal! Help!
When I don't add the exercise separately it doesn't seem like I get enough extra calories but when I do add it it seems like too many extras.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. We recommend that you not manually log any exercise to your MyFitnessPal Exercise Diary that the Fitbit excels at tracking: this includes walking, jogging, running, climbing stairs or hills, or daily home or office activity. These will be more accurately recorded by the Fitbit and will then transfer to MyFitnessPal as part of your Calorie Adjustment.

We recommend that you manually log to MyFitnessPal any exercise that your Fitbit’s “step-based” system will have trouble detecting accurately, such as rowing, cycling, and of course activities like swimming during which you cannot wear the device.

If you do add in an exercise, your adjustment from Fitbit will modify itself to make sure calories aren’t counted twice.

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other problems or questions. We wish you all the success in reaching and maintaining all of your diet and fitness goals.

All the best,
Bruce
