Negative Calorie Adjustments AislingHunter — Jun 25, 2019 01:10PM PDT

I turned on Negative Calorie Adjustments today, since I have a step tracker and I synced it with my MFP account, but the results didn't make much sense.

My activity level is set to sedentary, and as such my TDEE is around 1800, and MFP recommends I eat around 1300 calories a day. Today I walked 10k steps and separately burned 500 calories in the gym. I'm eating a bit more today as well, but still below my TDEE even without the activity.

However, after I turned Negative Calorie Adjustment on and went back to my home page, it was saying I was eating hundreds of calories more than I should be. It said I was supposed to be eating the usual 1300 calories, despite the fact I've been very active today and that would create a huge deficit. I had to turn off the feature, because it just made no sense.

Can someone explain what this feature actually is? I read that if you do less activity than what MFP predicts, it'll lower your calories, however I have my level set to sedentary, and considering I walked 10k steps and went to the gym, I can't imagine that level is lower than MFP's prediction.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for bringing this to our attention. We are aware of the issue where erroneous calorie adjustments are being calculated when users are linked to S-Health and also log discrete exercises. We hope to have a fix in place as soon as possible. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Oh, I hadn't realised there was a known issue with this! I thought I had perhaps made a mistake or didn't understand what the negative calorie adjustment was.

Thank you for letting me know!
