What is the difference between 'announce' options? Theo166 — Apr 13, 2017 12:31PM PDT

I don't understand the difference between the three options when "Announcing a post. In particular, the first two seem to give the same result.
In Social Groups.
In Social Groups and recent discussions.
Don't announce.

General advice - I wish MFP had better tips & tricks on how to moderate a group.

Hello,

Thank you for participating in our community. We appreciate the feedback on needing better tips and tricks for moderating groups and hope to do better in the future.

In the meantime we are happy to help answer any of your group questions.

The option to announce to recent discussions would include a post here in the main forums:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussions

However, it is not a permission group owners have, only site admins which is why it isn’t working. We should improve this so it doesn’t show up for you at all and in the meantime appreciate your patience.

I hope this helps. If there is anything else we can assist you with please let us know.

Warm Regards,
Alex

I'm not clear on your answer. I'm referring to the 'Announce' feature within a group where I am an owner and it gives three options:
1. In Social Groups.
2. In Social Groups and recent discussions.
3. Don't announce.

Hello,

Thank you for letting me know my response was confusing.

If you select the first option, announce “in social groups” the discussion you are announcing will be pinned to the top of your group. If you select the second option the same thing will happen, your discussion will be pinned to the top of your group (if staff members select the second option something else happens), for the third option nothing will happen to the discussion, it will be a regular discussion in your group.

Here is an example of a group that is using the announce option to pin discussions to the top:

Let me know if this helps clear things up.
