Adding to My Foods using barcode to search minetprinsloo — Apr 19, 2017 09:04PM PDT

I want to create a "my foods" list by simply scanning the items in my pantry. I noticed that in the App to add a my food you have to search the database unlike the "logging" feature that has the scanner option in the search bar.
Can you add 1. the barcode scanner feature for "my foods" and 2. set the default search results for any food item to show items recently used or in my foods at the top?

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for the great suggestion. We will definitely consider adding this option for a future update.

For now, what you may want to try is scanning the item into your diary and then saving it as a meal. If you would like to just build your own list for future use, you can scan items, save them as a meal, and then delete them from your diary.

You can save one or several items as a meal. For example, if for breakfast, you have eggs, toast and coffee, you can add all these under breakfast and save it as a meal. The next time you have the same thing, you can add it to any place in your diary directly from your “meals” or “my meals (online)” list. If you like, you can save just one item as a meal.

Instructions for creating a remembered meal are here: http://myfitnesspal.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/162346

We hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other problems or questions. We wish you all the success in reaching and maintaining your health and fitness goals.

Warm Regards,
