Calorie Adjustments Broke? ambark612 — Apr 20, 2017 05:32PM PDT

Today my calorie adjustment from my Samsung S3 Watch seemed to be kind of broken. I have nearly 10,000 steps with an activity level set to sedentary yet mfp was calculating me at -660 calories. Is this accurate?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us with your question. If you click on the Samsung Calorie Adjustment line in your diary, and then on Extra Calories Earned, we can look at the Samsung calories vs the MyFitnessPal Calories Burned. In order to see an adjustment the Samsung number must be higher. When it tracks an individual exercise entry, like a run, the program replaces your resting activity and calorie burn with the calorie burn from that entry, to avoid receiving double credit for the activity during that time. In your adjustment detail it gets added to the MyFitnessPal number, reducing your Samsung calorie adjustment by the amount of your individual exercise entry. If this makes the MyFitnessPal number greater the adjustment will go back to 0 until the Samsung number once again passes it, however, if you look at your calculation at the top of the home screen, you will see that you are getting credit for the individual exercise entry there.

Kind Regards,
Logan

As you can see on April 25 and April 20th, myfitnesspal isn't just avoiding giving double credit, it's giving me negative. On a day when i just walk around, MFP will give me +112 calories, on a day where I go for a run, MFP gives me -300 calories.

Thanks for following up with us. Looking at the 25th, you adjustment is indeed off. When your Samsung Calorie Burn, in the adjustment details, is higher than you MyFitnessPal Calorie Burn, you should definitely be receiving a positive adjustment. We’ve had a few other reports from other users experiencing similar behavior with their adjustments when an exercise has been added, however, we’ve been unable to reproduce the issue on our end. Would you please let us know if your run that day was automatically tracked by S-Health when it detected a pace faster than walking, was a manual entry, or if it was tracked by another app that’s been linked with S-Health and passed on to us.

Warm Regards,
Logan

It was automatically detected by the watch and most likely the data was sent to S-Health
