Confused about the projected results. ScottyFitz48 — Jul 01, 2017 06:25AM PDT

Hi, I have set a goal of losing 0.5kg per week and when I confirm it it states this:

"Your projected weight loss is 0.5 kg/week
You should lose 1.1 kg by August 5"

In 4 weeks and 4 days I should lose almost 2.5kgs. How is this correct?

Hey thanks for posting your question. MyFitnessPal calculates your goals based on your profile information and the amount of weight you would like to lose per week. However, the program also has a limit to the minimum number of calories we recommend per day.

We have designed a program to help with healthy and sustainable weight loss. We do not recommend women consume fewer than 1200 calories per day, or men fewer than 1500 calories per day. Eating too little can produce negative health effects.

Since we have this limitation, depending on your profile information, your original desired weight loss per week may not allow the program to stay within the minimum recommendations. The program will then automatically update to represent a weekly weight loss that is within this range.

These are calculations, and weight loss varies for each individual. We have had members report more of a weight loss than the calculations originally estimated. We recommend staying within your daily recommendations, and see what happens.

If you ever feel you are having a problem with your weight goals, we recommend contacting your doctor or nutritionist.
