Searching food and getting varied results ziabby1 — Sep 10, 2017 09:29AM PDT

I'm a new user and just tried to enter something as simple as a hard boiled egg. When I search for it, I get numerous results - all with varying information - anything from 40 calories to 78 calories. I see different options such as "egg white only" or from specific manufacturers. However, there are still varied results for just a plain hard boiled egg. How do I know what is accurate??

Hey thanks for posting your question.

Our database is compiled two different ways. We research and add many of the items, and some items are submitted by other members. For the most part, our members are just as precise as we are. However, there may be some entries that are inaccurate or incomplete.

When MyFitnessPal believes a food listing in its database has complete nutrition information it is marked with a green check mark.

We do our best to ensure the nutrition information for check marked foods accurately reflects nutrition information from the product packaging. Many of the foods in our database are created by users, and occasionally food will be marked with a check mark that has nutrition information inaccuracies. We are always working to improve the accuracy of the database, and new check marked foods are being added all the time.

Just because food is not a check food does not mean it has inaccurate nutrition information.

Warm Regards,
MyFitnessPal Staff
