Best way to set up a Garmin Connect / MFP 500 calorie deficit per day? Leighbystevo — Nov 23, 2017 04:50PM PST
Does this work?: Set MFP goal each day to BMR -500 (eg BMR 1500cal - 500cal = 1000cal "goal"), then have the Garmin Connect "Active Calories" added on top of that each day so you get an amount that you can eat adjusted so that the more exercise you do, the more you can eat, but always will have a 500cal deficit??? Thoughts? or better ways to do this?? Thanks!!

There is not a way to have only your Active Calories from Garmin Connect to sync over. Your Total Calorie burn from Garmin will sync and you will receive an adjustment if you are projected to burn more than your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned, based off the current total Calorie burn from Garmin. Your MyFitnessPal Calories Burned are composed of two things: your estimate of calories burned per day MyFitnessPal makes based off your profile information plus any added exercises. If an exercise is added manually or from a partner, the MyFitnessPal Calories Burned increase and the adjustment will modify itself so that calories burned are not double counted.
Details about the calculation of any adjustment can be viewed by clicking the small “i” next to the adjustment in your Exercise Diary (on the full website), or by tapping the adjustment itself in the Exercise Diary of the MyFitnessPal on the apps (you may need to tap the adjustment in the diary and then again on the next page depending on your app version). If you do not see a line that says Garmin adjustment in the cardiovascular section, then there may be a problem with the sync. However, if you do see this line, then it should be syncing correctly, even if it says 0.
Hope this helps,
