Weight lifting calories added and running calories subtracted adamevangel — Feb 08, 2018 06:21PM PST
It appears that myfitnesspal is adding/giving me credit for calories burned while weight lifting but subtracting/giving me negative calories for anything used while running. Is there something different about these processes that would make this difference? I log all exercises with MapMyRun. The run is GPS synced but the weight lifting is logged live through the MapMyRun app, just without GPS.

Thank you for contacting us with your question. If you click on the iOS Calorie Adjustment line in your diary, and then on Extra Calories Earned, we can look at the iOS calories vs the MyFitnessPal Calories Burned. In order to see an adjustment the iOS number must be higher. When you add a cardio exercise entry, the program replaces your tracked activity and calorie burn with the calorie burn from that entry, to avoid receiving double credit for the activity. In your adjustment detail it gets added to the MyFitnessPal number, since it was not tracked by your iOS device, reducing your iOS calorie adjustment by the amount of your cardio exercise entry. If this makes the MyFitnessPal number greater the adjustment will go back to 0 until the iOS number once again passes it, however, if you look at your calculation at the top of the home screen, you will see that you are getting credit for the cardio exercise entry there.
