Why is advertising so close to my food list that I cannot delete a food choice?

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding the recent appearance of sponsored ads on your MyFitnessPal Diary. Your feedback will be passed along directly to our Product for review.
We understand this is definitely a change in experience for our users, and we wanted to give you some insight into this decision.
As a company, MyFitnessPal is committed to bringing our users best-in-class health and fitness tools. In order to continue adding features, improving our stability, and integrating with more industry leaders like Garmin, Fitbit, and Apple, we have been adding many talented staff members to our team. We’re also actively investing in new features and improved technology, and we currently serve a global MyFitnessPal community of over 75 million users. And we have many exciting updates coming your way.
Rather than pass the cost of this growth on directly to our users, we have chosen, at this time, to broaden the presence of advertising in our apps. For many years, we have shown ads across all three platforms in various locations and we have extended the presence of ads to our diary so that we can continue to grow and improve MyFitnessPal, while still allowing anyone with internet access to join and use MyFitnessPal to log their food and exercise.
We thank you so much for using the program and your understanding of this needed addition. Please let us know if you have any additional feedback, problems or questions. We wish you all the success in reaching and maintaining all of your health and fitness goals.
All the best,
