Why do I need to share my friends from another app to connect it to My Fitness Pal? essprit — Jul 02, 2018 01:25PM PDT

I'm trying to connect another app to MyFitness Pal. Rather than accepting all data points, I have unselected friends data but am allowing every other thing to be accessed by MyFitnessPal. Alas, I get an error message that I have to allow *all* data points to connect another app. Why do you need the friends data to access my actual fitness data? Doesn't make any sense, and it certainly isn't good privacy practice.
