Creating and Searching for Custom Barcodes garzaAF — Dec 05, 2018 08:46AM PST

I have a small food service business and I would like add barcodes to my packaging for my clients, so they can easily log it in MFP. Is there a way to add barcodes to "My Foods" that I have entered to the database? It appears that there was once a feature where if you scanned a barcode you would be prompted with adding it to a food, but all I get is "invalid barcode". If I make a custom barcode does it need to be registered with an organization? It there a certain format that I need to follow? Thank you.

(I am not interested in having my clients use the search tool for the meals.)

Thanks for posting and sorry for any trouble. The option to create a new product is showing up when we test this by scanning non food items. So there must be an issue with it not recognizing the custom barcodes that you’re creating. please click here to reach us via email and provide a screenshot or two of a couple of the barcodes that you are using? Please also include the name of the item and it’s nutritional information and we’ll attempt to reproduce it on our end and triage the problem further.

Warm Regards,

Thank you Logan - I believe that my custom bacode application I am using does not format the barcodes properly or in a manor that the app recognizes. After you email, I tested out a few a non-food items and it worked. Thank you for response as it helped me find my answer.
