S-Health Step Correction bhrc4 — Feb 07, 2019 03:03PM PST

I've set my activity level in my profile settings to get a more accurate calorie goal. I wear a Gear S3 watch to count steps and measure other activity. I have my profile set up to allow negative steps and everything seems to be working. My question is how does MFP come up with the calorie deduction? Is that negative calorie number being calculated by MFP based on needing a certain number of steps or does it come from S-Health based on your step goal? If it's coming from S-Health I would think you'd need to have a certain number of steps set to equal the activity level you set up in the MFP profile.

If I go into my goals and mess with the activity settings my daily calorie goal changes but the negative number from S-Health stays the same. That indicates to me that the number from S-Health is probably based on your step goal. So for your daily calorie adjustment to be accurate, you would need to set step goals in S-Health to be related to the activity level you set.

What should my settings in MFP and S-Health be to make everything accurate?

Hi there,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and for bringing this to our attention. We are aware of the issue where erroneous calorie adjustments are being calculated when users are linked to S-Health and also log discrete exercises. I went into the menu, then steps. I selected "Don't track steps" then re-selected Samsung Health. Now my step count is showing in my summary on the home screen.

Yesterday after doing this it seemed to be ok, earlier in the day or the day before I decreased my step goal in Samsung Health from 6000 to 4500. Last night after reaching my goal I increased it to 5000. It seemed like after that I got an Exercise entry of "Samsung calorie adjustment (Based on your measured activity)" with a value of -994 calories.
In my goals setting for MFP I have the lowest activity level selected.

This morning things seem to be ok. I'm in the app and on the home screen summary at the top, it has my current step count. When I go to my diary under Exercise it says "Samsung Health Calorie Adjustment 138 steps with a +8 for calories.

Hope this helps.

There is one other problem with the Samsung Health sync that I thought I asked but I don't see it in My Cases. When I track an exercise with my Gear S3, it shows up in my news feed multiple times. I see one from yesterday 4 times and one 2 days ago 12 times!

Also, am I supposed to receive a notification that there has been a reply to my question? I didn't get one and just checked all folders in my account (including spam). I don't see that as an option anywhere but I do see this listed under "my cases." This is odd because I DID get an email for the other case that is currently open yesterday.

My last comment was yesterday morning, and the following information is from later that evening at the end of the day.

1. When I first looked at Samsung Health step count said 4777,

2. MFP Diary Exercise log said:

SAMSUNG Calorie Adjustment -753
8,350 steps,

3. MFP App Home Summary said 10,285 Samsung Health Steps (of 10,000),

4. Then I looked at my Gear S3 and it said 6382 steps,

5. Did something in Samsung Health so it would sync,

6. Total step count in Samsung Health then said 6382,

7. Went back to MFP app, under Exercise it said:

Samsung Health Calorie Adjustment -753
10,285 Steps,

8. Went to MFP app Home and it then said 0 Steps,

9. Went back to diary and then under exercise it said:

Samsung calorie adjustment -753
Based on your measured activity
